Atlantic Immigration Program Update: New Endorsement Applications Paused for 2024

Starting September 18, 2024, the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) will suspend the acceptance of new endorsement applications for the rest of the year, as the allocation for 2024 has been fulfilled. However, applications for Employer Designation will still be accepted.

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) offers a route to permanent residency for skilled foreign workers and international graduates from accredited post-secondary institutions in Atlantic Canada who wish to live and work in New Brunswick. To apply, candidates must receive endorsement from a designated employer. This program assists New Brunswick employers in hiring qualified candidates for positions that have been difficult to fill locally.

We are currently inviting expressions of interest from employers in New Brunswick. If you’re an employer interested in becoming designated and endorsing a candidate, please visit the INB Portal to create a new employer profile or log in to your existing one to submit your expression of interest.

Getting Started

The Atlantic Immigration Program is an employer-driven initiative designed to meet the labor market needs in the four Atlantic Provinces.

To achieve designation, your organization must:

  • Not be in breach of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) or the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).
  • Maintain good standing and comply with employment standards and occupational health and safety laws.
  • Avoid recruiting or hiring workers solely to create a candidate pool that could be transferred or contracted to other businesses for staffing.
  • Have been continuously and actively operating under the same management for at least two years in one of the Atlantic provinces, or demonstrate ongoing operations in another location with provincial approval for designation.
  • Collaborate with a New Brunswick settlement service provider to assist your candidates in accessing settlement services.
  • Commit to completing onboarding training.
  • Agree to participate in intercultural competency training unless exempted by the province. A New Brunswick workforce attraction officer will notify you if training is required during your initial intake conversation.
