Ontario’s latest Express Entry draw for skilled trades has issued 1,287 invitations for permanent residency.

Today, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted an Express Entry draw, extending 1,287 invitations for provincial nomination through the Skilled Trades Stream.

In this round of invitations, all Express Entry profiles with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 400 and 435 and experience in one of the 46 designated skilled trade occupations were selected for provincial nomination.

This OINP draw was open to active Express Entry profiles created between August 22, 2023, and August 22, 2024, that met these criteria.

Compared to the previous OINP Skilled Trades Stream draw, the CRS score range has broadened significantly. The minimum CRS score has decreased by 8 points, from 408 to 400, while the maximum score remains unchanged.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) usually sets the upper limit of the CRS score based on the latest federal Express Entry draw for 10 specific trade occupations.

However, candidates with experience in the other 35–36 trade occupations have frequently voiced concerns about their exclusion from both OINP and Federal Express Entry draws.

Those who have received an invitation now have 45 days to accept it and submit a complete application for consideration for provincial nomination.

A provincial nomination significantly boosts a candidate’s Express Entry profile by adding 600 points.

With this boost, the CRS score of the invited profiles will rise to a range of 1,000 to 1,035, ensuring strong eligibility for selection in future PNP or all-program Express Entry draws.

The Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream does not require a separate OINP profile; instead, eligible profiles must match one of the trade occupations specified for this draw.

The OINP regularly reviews the Express Entry pool managed by IRCC to identify profiles that meet the criteria for its various Express Entry streams.
